Reflection on Values: Nasiru Eneji Abdulrasheed, a man whose journey through life began on the 21st of May in 1998, today marks a notable milestone in his journey. Celebrating a full twenty-five years on this Earth commemorates this significant moment — my quadricentennial birthday — with a sense of awe, humility, and gratitude.
On a fond note, “Holy shit, it has not been a walk in the park,” a simple yet potent statement that effectively encapsulates the challenges, victories, joys, and sorrows I have encountered throughout my quarter of a century journey.
Over this span of twenty-five years, I have experienced a myriad of events and milestones that have shaped me into the individual — I’m today. As with any individual’s life, my journey has not been devoid of unexpected turns, challenging mountains, and dark valleys. But in the grand scheme of things, I maintain a positive outlook, reflecting that “A lot of things have happened, but overall, I can’t hold any grievances against Allah for choosing this path for me.”
My faith in Allah has undoubtedly been a pillar of my strength throughout my journey. I express gratitude to the Almighty Allah for guiding me through the twists and turns of life, “I thank Almighty Allah for taking me this far and blessing me this much.” I also give thanks to my wonderful parents for bringing me to this life, as well as to my siblings and friends around the world for their support and love.
While I’m sincerely thankful for the blessings I have received thus far, I remain hopeful and ambitious about the future. “Because I won’t lie, I want more.” My honest admission to wanting more is not merely a reflection of my desires but also a testament to my drive and ambition, people who know me can vouch for that. I’m eagerly looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. Confident that I’m ready to embrace whatever comes my way.
As I stand on the brink of a new chapter in life, my faith continues to shine brightly. With a firm belief in the future’s promise, I confidently declare, “Insha Allah, the race is just about to get started.”
